A few weeks ago, a friend told me that she was making falafels! Truth be told, I had no clue what is was but I wasn’t going to say that :-). A few days later, I open a lifestyle magazine and guess what? They had recipes for making falafels :-). What pleased me most was that the main ingredient is my favorite :-). Chick pea!!! Yay falafel! 

I procrastinated making falafels, seemed like a lot of work (I had not read the recipe). My daughter loves books, she found the magazine and that was the end of that for me. 

After making some yummy chickpea stews, I decided to give falafels a try. I am at work all day and I don’t want hectic recipes even on weekends so I googled a recipe. Imagine my shock when I realised that making falafels was easy! 

Ingredients:

 

  The recipe I read called for parsley, I didn’t have any so I used what I had……

– coriander

– Chickpea (I soaked dry chickpea, boiled until soft and firm)

– 4 garlic cloves (I love garlic)

– pinch of turmeric (my favorite spice)

– salt to taste (I salted the chick peas) 

– 2 spoons of flour

– half an onion

– olive oil

I don’t know why, but I don’t have a food processor. I have a blender and I only realized halfway through the process that I might not have the right tools.

Nevertheless, I trudged on and used the blender. I blitzed all the ingredients (save the flour). 

I love olive oil and believe one can never have enough. I added the olive oil after and sprinkled the flour to shape. 

 I baked for about 30 minutes.

  

These were very yummy! I made chapati (will share recipe sometime) and made falafel wraps! Amazing!
